Did you know that the winter season can give you lower back pain? It may sound strange that a season can be responsible for aches and pains, but consider how many people you know who suffer from lower back pain in the winter - a heavy, stiff, achy feeling that settles right into the lower back. Maybe you’re one of them?
We may tell ourselves that we’re sore from shoveling snow, carrying groceries, or we just slept on it wrong. But, the truth is, it’s cold out there! The cold winter is just plain hard on the back. When it’s cold, our muscles tense up, and even normal activities can be overstraining. This is the perfect scenario for unexpected injury. Unfortunately, back pain has a tendency to stick around and get worse, because your back never gets a break. There’s not much you can do that doesn’t use it!
Luckily, acupuncture offers some of the most effect treatments for back pain available, even for stubborn, chronic pain, that’s been around for months or years. In fact, a German study in 2007* found acupuncture to be more effect for chronic back pain than conventional medicine.
So if you find yourself with back pain this winter, don’t lie around, waiting and hoping that it will get better on it’s own. Give your back some TLC. Make an appointment and see how acupuncture can help you!
